Vast swathes of Crystal Palace’s fan base are feeling incredibly low at the moment, but central defender Scott Dann is refusing to give in to negative emotions.
With Yannick Bolasie and Bakary Sako on the verge of a return to full fitness, Scott is hopeful that our form will quickly turn around, after a run of performances which he clearly feels haven’t been bad enough to warrant nine games without a win.
His own form, particularly in front of goal, has been one of very few highlights for Palace fans in 2016, but our gradual slide down the Premier League table has brought the topic of relegation back into the general thought process of every supporter, a fact that is bound to bring a degree of negativity into the mindset of both the players and their coaches.
In essence, things aren’t at a critical stage yet, as Pardew’s players still have an eight point buffer between themselves and the bottom three, but after almost two months without a league triumph, the necessity of getting back to winning ways is growing ever more important with each passing day.
In an ideal world, Yannick will return to the fold this weekend, producing the sort of performance which provides a platform upon which we can build for the remainder of the campaign, but as things stand, the FA Cup trip to White Hart Lane will hold far less importance in our collective thoughts than the following two fixtures against West Brom and Sunderland respectively.
Dann is undoubtedly one of the biggest characters within the Palace squad, we can only hope that his grit and determination mixed with the flair of returning midfield duo Bolasie and Sako is enough to snap us out of this recent slump.
Keep the faith.
