In what is possibly the least popular transfer rumour of the day, Julian Speroni is being linked with a move away from Selhurst Park ahead of tonight’s deadline.
With Alex McCarthy and Wayne Hennessey also on Palace’s books, some could suggest that the 37-year-old keeper’s days between the sticks at Selhurst Park are now firmly behind him, but after seeing him take a place on the bench behind Wayne in recent weeks, there won’t have been many who will have foreseen m potentially moving away from the club today.
Just a handful of appearances behind John Jackson in the club’s all-time appearance list, any deal that sees him departing SE25 would go down like a lead balloon with the vast majority of the Eagles faithful, many of whom have been banging the drum for his recall to the first-team over the last month or so.
With little to no news of potential arrivals at Palace other than Rob Green, (don’t even get me started on that one) this is shaping up to be one of the worst Deadline Days in recent memory for our supporters. Surely the board wouldn’t be foolish enough to push a club legend out on loan?
