Palace fans have waited patiently for the club to sign a striker, often fighting amongst themselves as the anxiety grew, but this afternoon, Emmanuel Adebayor’s arrival was officially announced, prompting a generally positive response.
Whilst most strikers arrive at clubs with doubts over their ability to score goals regularly, it is something that Adebayor has readily done throughout his career, almost all of which has been spent at clubs more illustrious than ourselves.

Plenty has been said and written about his temperament, but you can be sure that he’ll be welcomed into the squad with open arms, partly as a result of our players’ general spirit and partly as a consequence of the genuine pedigree he brings with him. Make no mistake, on his day, he’s a top class finisher, we just need to bring that spark out of him once more.
Little is known of the big man’s general fitness levels, but you would hope that he will be ready to take on Bournemouth when they come to visit Selhurst Park a week from today. If either of these clips are anything to go by, you wouldn’t bet against him bagging the winner.
