Emmanuel Adebayor has today signed an official contract with Crystal Palace FC, becoming the club’s first signing of the January transfer window.
In a career within which he has represented Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, Adebayor was bagged 176 goals, which for a club in desperate need of an attacking spark, is extremely welcome news.
Indeed, Emmanuel is now just nine goals short of becoming the highest scoring African player to ever grace the Premier League, which is more than enough insentive for him to bang in a few during the coming months.
Exact details of his contract are scarce at this moment in time, but many within the industry are suggesting that we will be paying him £77,000 a week between now and May, which will work out at around £1.5 million in total; a mere drop in the ocean if he scores the goals we’re all hoping he will.
The club will be uploading a full interview with the man himself soon, which we will have on the site in due time, but for now, sit back and smile at the prospect of Adebayor doing his famous “salute” celebration in front of the Holmesdale.
