Having been treated to just over a minute of highlights from our recent FA Cup win over Southampton on Match Of The Day, Palace fans were left mightily disappointed, but a longer version has now been made available online.
This highlights package is the most extensive video of Saturday’s FA Cup win over Southampton available anywhere. We rode our luck on more than one occasion, but it was a fantastically gritty overall performance.
Those who were amongst the 5,000 strong army of travelling supporters, as well as the countless people following the game online from elsewhere will remember Wayne Hennessey’s terrific last-gasp stop, as well as one or two other great chances for the hosts in the second half, all of which are featured in the video above.
Having been drawn at home to Stoke in the fourth round, Alan Pardew and his players face another tough task if they are to advance, but they can at least take solace from the fact that they will have the chance to put on a performance in front of a lively Selhurst Park crowd.
With last weekend’s victory proving to be the second consecutive year in which we have knocked out the Saints on their own pitch, Ronald Koeman and co. are likely to be sick of the sight of us; not that the likes of Joel Ward and Wilfried Zaha will care, given the joy etched on their faces when they notched their respective goals on the day.
Now just a few hours away from returning to the grind of the Premier League courtesy of a trip to Villa Park this evening, it’s worth taking a moment or two to revel in Saturday’s win one more time before it is consigned to the history books.
