The last few days have seen Crystal Palace linked with a January move for Juventus striker Simone Zaza, following reports that the 24-year-old is growing increasingly frustrated by his lack of game time with the Italians; but just how good is the striker?
The answer, it appears, is very good indeed. This video showcases the form in front of goal which saw Juventus willingly shell out €18 million for him last summer. Make no mistake, on this evidence, if we can bring him to Selhurst Park, we’ve got a gem.
Still relatively young, the front man plays the game with the confidence of someone who has total faith in his own abilities. As you will see from the video above, he is capable of scoring all sorts of goals, whether they require power, finesse or a finer level of invention.
It should come as no real surprise, given the hype around him last year, but I defy you to watch the above highlights and not get even a little bit excited about what he would bring to our side, were he to decide we were the club for him.
A willing runner, Zaza doesn’t look to be a lumbering striker who simply waits for the right moment to strike. Happy to drift into the channels when the time comes, he notched up a fair few assists during his time with Sassuolo to go alongside his impressive goal tally.
Still desperate to get himself firmly established in the Italian squad ahead of next summer’s European Championships in France, Simone would arrive in England with a real point to prove after being sidelined for much of the current campaign at Juventus.
Of course, any serious talk of a move remains premature at this stage, but when you see Crystal Palace being linked with players of Zaza’s quality, it’s difficult not to get enthused by the prospect of him playing in red and blue.
