We all love Marouane Chamakh, don’t we? With the Moroccan now back in contention for a place in Alan Pardew’s starting XI after more than six months out, he’s taken the time to sit down with Palace TV and thank the club for helping him return to fitness.
VIDEO: Marouane Chamakh’s infectious personality is in full display here, as he sends out a huge message of thanks to everyone at the club for standing by him during such a long stint on the sidelines.
As part of a new feature introduced by the club’s media team entitled “My Position”, Marouane has been quizzed on his favourite player both past and present, his thoughts on the position he occupies within the squad and his views on the first club he played for, but it is when talking about his recent injury woes that he pulls most at your heartstrings.
Forced to sit on the sidelines constantly since May, Chamakh has been unable to share in the highs and lows of the current campaign until now; a limitation which has clearly taken its toll on him mentally.
Now, back to match fitness, the gratitude he has for the club’s medical staff, management and owners is evident, prompting him to speak openly about the efforts that have been made by numerous people in helping him back into the first-team picture.
Having arrived from Arsenal with an unwarranted reputation of inconsistency, Chamakh appears to have fallen firmly on his feet in SE25. Let’s hope, just as he so desperately does, that his niggling injury problems are now a thing of the past.
If anyone deserves a bit of luck, it’s Marouane.
