Palace Have £8.8 Million Bid Rejected For Tottenham Target

With the January transfer window now just a matter of weeks away, Crystal Palace are said to have had an £8.8 million bid rejected for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.

This video shows some of Slimani’s best moments, giving you a feel for what to expect if Palace do indeed up their offer in the not too distant future

The frontman has supposedly been a long-term target for Eagles boss Alan Pardew, but with the likes of Tottenham and West Ham sniffing around too, there still appears to be some way to go before the club can agree a move for the Algerian hitman.

Having bagged eight times in his opening 12 games for Sporting this season, there is no denying Slimani’s prowess in front of goal; an attribute which is sure to be of great interest to the Palace hierarchy, who haven’t seen a single goal scored by their strikers in the Premier League so far this season.

Whilst big money was shelled out to bring in Connor Wickham from Sunderland, he hasn’t really had enough game time to make a lasting impact in the first-team, whereas both Dwight Gayle and Patrick Bamford have found it impossible to carve out genuine goalscoring chances when given the opportunity to impress by the manager.

Most of the time, reports such as the one above are taken with a gigantic pinch of salt, but given the depth and specific detail the piece goes into, alongside their reference to a local Portugese paper who first carried the news, it’s hard not to take what they’re saying seriously.

It’s certainly good to know that the club are looking to get their big January business done early, with the article in question offering us all hope of a positive conclusion within the coming days or weeks. Let’s just hope that, as mentioned in the piece, West Ham or Spurs don’t attempt to gazump us as soon as the window opens.

Spurs have been sending scouts regularly to watch him but I’m not sure he is a primary target, if he is then expect to be gazumped.
