Joe Ledley’s dance moves have become synonymous with Wales’ Euro 2016 campaign over the last few days, and last night, after a triumphant end to their qualification campaign, the entire Welsh squad decided to replicate the now infamous shapes.
In what can only be described as a moment of sheer inspiration from the Palace midfielder on Saturday night, we saw him celebrate his country’s safe passage to Euro 2016 by thrusting his arms through the air as though he was in the middle of a rave whilst surrounded by his teammates. Luckily, it was captured by the Sky Sports cameras and was subsequently plastered across social media platforms the world over.
Clearly tickled by the sudden fame that Joe is now enjoying, the Wales players decided to mob him shortly after scoring last night against Andorra, pulling out his signature moves en masse to much hilarity from the stands. Having already qualified for next summer’s tournament prior to kick-off last night, the game itself was something of a celebration throughout, but following a 2-0 win in front of their home fans, Coleman, Bale and co. went through the standard practice of gathering on a podium to spray champagne in every direction.
Shortly after, Ledley was implored to pull out the dance yet again for the cameras, readily obliging, as you would expect. Given the speed with which things can go viral these days, we probably shouldn’t be too surprised to see some comedy dance moves gaining such a degree of infamy, but it’s always good to see one of our own gaining celebrity status across the country, even if it’s for something that isn’t directly related to the beautiful game.
