Hiram Boateng played his part in yet another win for Plymouth Argyle yesterday as the Pilgrims remained top of the League Two table.
Thanks to a brace from the impressive Reuben Reid, Derek Adams and his players ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over Notts County in front of the Sky Sports cameras, maintaining a three point lead over second placed Portsmouth at the summit of English football’s fourth tier.
Palace loanee Boateng was given a starting role in the heart of the visitors’ midfield yet again, emphasising the importance Adams already places upon his shoulders given his influence on their fine early season form.
Whilst the game didn’t yield a goal for the big man as has been the case in recent weeks, his physically imposing playing style and readiness to receive the ball to feet at every turn was evident throughout, leading to genuine hopes that he may one day be ready to take a place in Alan Pardew’s Palace side.
It’s impossible to say for sure if Boateng will continue to push on in the months and years to come but at the time of writing, things are looking extremely positive for the teenager. You can be sure that Alan Pardew will be keeping a close eye on his progress from afar, which on a personal level will act as a huge source of comfort for Hiram.
