Yannick Bolasie’s DR Congo powered their way to a 2-0 victory over Nigeria last night, continuing their fine recent run of form.
Despite playing the tie away from home, Yannick and his teammates cruised into an early lead thanks to a seventh minute strike from Mbokani, before Nkololo added a second goal for the visitors in the 33rd minute.
The second period would prove to be a relative stroll for the Palace winger and his international teammates, who consigned Nigeria manager Sunday Oliseh to his first defeat whilst in charge of the Super Eagles.
The second half brought much of the same, as Bolasie and co. asserted their authority over a lackadaisical Nigeria side, who despite lots of effort, struggled to ever seriously trouble DR Congo at any stage of the game.
Whilst it may only have been a friendly, any away victory at international is welcome and for Yannick personally, it adds to what has already been a good few days following his headed goal against West Brom last Saturday.
