Prolific youngster Keshi Anderson scored his first goal in professional football last night for Doncaster Rovers.
Having moved there on loan only last week, the afro-haired frontman impressed on his debut away to Sheffield United despite not getting on the scoresheet but managed to find the net last night in what ended as a 2-2 for Rovers at home to Swindon.
Picked as a starter for the game once again, Keshi saw the hosts fall behind just after the interval when Nicky Ajose bagged for the Robins, before grabbing an impressive equaliser himself in the 73rd minute.
Receiving the ball to feet on the edge of the penalty area, Keshi looked up, picked a spot and swept home a beautifully weighted strike with the casual ease of a natural finisher; a moment that bodes well for months and years to come. Even his celebration was nonchalant, as if to say, “Don’t fuss over me, it’s what I’m here for.”
Doncaster then managed to get their noses in front when Williams converted a spot kick with just 10 minutes remaining but there was to be a sting in the tail thanks to Swindon striker John Obika, who drew the visitors level in injury time.
Whilst it’s always wise not to get too carried away with the potential any youngsters show, Keshi does seem to be progressing at a frighteningly rapid rate. Let’s hope the goal attached above is just the start of a glittering career in front of goal.
