Bakary Sako has made one hell of a start to life in SE25, scoring twice in victories over Aston Villa and Chelsea respectively and if the training video below is anything to go by, he’s set to carry on impressing.
Alongside plenty of other goals scored by the lads yesterday, the Mali international whipped a stunning left-footed strike in from distance, forcing Palace TV’s Chris Grierson to audibly gasp behind him as it hit the back of the net. No doubt, despite his calm demeanour, Bakary was rather happy with the shot.
It’s great to see the team playing with such attacking vibrancy of late, brought about by the inclusion of so many positive midfielders from week to week. For years, Palace have been known as a side who grind results out, soaking up pressure before hitting the opposition with a sucker punch, but this season, Pardew has implemented a change in mentality, focussing directly on ball retention above all else.
Although we suffered a deflating last-minute defeat against Manchester City last weekend, we look to be a real threat to whoever we come up against of late, leading many of our fans to hold out hope of a positive result at White Hart Lane this Sunday. Indeed, our start to the season, on paper at least, has been incredibly tricky and yet, we still find ourselves sitting pretty in sixth place after the first five rounds of Premier League fixtures.
Hopefully, we’ll continue to impress in the months to come, helped hugely by plenty of goals from the aforementioned midfield powerhouse. He’s certainly not lacking in ambition.
