Chester-born official Mike Jones will take charge of this weekend’s game against Manchester City at Selhurst Park.
In what has been a busy start to the 2015/16 campaign, Jones has overseen three Premier League games and one Championship tie, handing out 18 yellow cards and one red in the process.
Yet to referee ourselves or Manchester City this season, Jones will no doubt be hoping for a controversy-free afternoon, in what is, albeit rather strangely, a top of the table clash in South London.
Jones took charge of two Palace games last season, away to Newcastle and QPR respectively, handing out seven yellow cards and no reds.
His last game involving Manchester City saw Pellegrini’s men triumph 3-0 over Southampton at St Mary’s, despite Mangala being dismissed for a second bookable offence in the 74th minute.
So far this term, three of Jones’ games have ended in draws, with the home side yet to be defeated in any of the four ties. We’d certainly settle for something similar this Saturday.
