Glenn Murray’s departure from Crystal Palace has left more than a few supporters feeling a tad sentimental.
After four years and 47 goals in red and blue, there is plenty for us to reminisce over from the 32-year-old’s stint at Selhurst Park, but as is so often the case in circumstances such as this, we have all been forced to wonder what might have been.
Whilst last season saw him prove beyond any doubt that he is capable of scoring regularly in the top flight, there are numerous Eagles fans who would have loved nothing more than for the Cumbrian to see out his days in SE25, edging ever closer towards a century of goals in red and blue.
Sadly, we will never see him pull on a Palace shirt again but I for one hope that he enjoys something of an Indian summer under the guidance of Eddie Howe. After missing a huge chunk of Premier League football thanks to his horrific ACL injury in 2013, he is understandably desperate to make the most of the time he has, making him and Bournemouth an almost perfect fit.
We’ll miss him at Selhurst Park, of that there is no doubt, but he’s given each and every one of us some truly fantastic memories.
Best of luck, Glenn.
