Wilfried Zaha is loving life since returning to Selhurst Park on a permanent basis. Empowered to play his natural game by Alan Pardew, the winger’s struggles in Manchester have been put firmly behind him.
Speaking to JD Sports recently after their unveiling as our new stadium sponsor, Wilf touched on his goals for the season ahead, the intuitive understanding he and Yannick Bolasie have with striker Glenn Murray and his own musical preferences.
Although not exibiting the sort of confidence Yannick often does in front of a camera, Zaha has matured hugely in the last 12 months, speaking with conviction and authority over his targets for the year ahead. Where before there was always an audible tone of uncertainty in his interviews, we can now hear a steely determination in his words.
Perhaps it’s the product of a troubled stint at Old Trafford, resulting in a burning desire to show the watching world what he is truly capable of, but listening to him speak now inspires a confidence which simply wasn’t evident a year or so ago.
Sadly, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing him follow Yannick’s lead into the world of grime MCing anytime soon though.
